Interest in golf has exploded across the county over the past year, and this year the courses in Västerbotten are expected to be busy. In Gunnarn, about 20 miles east of Storuman, there is a golf course run by Gunnarns Golfklubb. The club started in 2001 and the course was open for play with all 9/18 holes in 2007.
The club’s vision is to provide members, companies and visitors with opportunities for exercise and recreation. They want to be an activity in the community and an attraction in Gunnarn, and if you ask an enthusiast, they are succeeding by far.
The course is located in the heart of the village, next to the shop and petrol station. The club has worked hard for many years to build and develop the course, which now offers electricity pitches for campers and caravans for the travelling golf enthusiast. There are many guests who stay on site to play a few rounds on the course and spend time in the beautiful village, which is beautifully set in an open, rolling agricultural landscape.
Playing golf at Gunnarn Golf is a fun and relaxing activity for young and not so young people. The quirky handicap system allows you to come together at different ages and skill levels and compete against yourself or others – or just play for the fun of it: it’s hard to get bored with golf, when you hit that perfect shot you just want to do it again and again and again…
The driving range is beautifully situated next to the course, a lake with a ball machine makes it accessible to all.
