In addition to the famous pike fishing in Stensele, the long lake Storuman, which lies just outside the village, offers a wide range of fish, from grayling, trout, char and rainbow trout to large, well-grown whitefish. If you want to fish in smaller waters, Avasund Fiske & camp, Gunnarbäcken, Långvattsbäcken downstream Grotjaur and Juktån are really good options. Many of the waters are close to Storuman centre, within walking distance of the ice-fishing.

Finding a quiet, frozen lake, drilling a hole in the ice, setting the hook and waiting with excitement for the fish to snap is one of the best things there is. When the sun is shining and you turn your nose to the sun’s rays while slowly moving the rod up and down to attract the fish… there is nothing quite like that!
Take a break with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate from your thermos and maybe a sandwich or grilled sausage. For those of us who live in the Storuman Lapland area, this is true relaxation, something akin to meditation in nature.
